Yocona International Folk Festival
When: August 7th – 11th
Where: Oxford, MS
What: A celebration of cultures and diversity in Mississippi, the Yocona International Folk Festival brings artwork, live music, dance performances, food, storytelling, and more. Come out and learn a little more about our unique Mississippi community!
Down on Main
When: August 15th, 6pm – 10pm
Where: Fairpark, Tupelo
What: The second in the series of free concerts, the August edition of Down on Main brings some southern rock sounds from Winston Ramble and Young Valley. With the House of Bounce, local food trucks, and live music, it’s the perfect community celebration for all ages!
Music & Movies in the Park
When: August 16th, 7pm – 9pm
Where: Avent Park, Oxford
What: Music & Movies in the Park has been going on since June and has been a pretty popular event around the community. This month, be sure to check out the showing of Monsters University, and keep an eye out for the announcement of the musical guest!
Rebel/Bulldog Cook-Off
When: August 17th, 11am – 6pm
Where: Pontotoc Court Square
What: Come on out for good food and friendly rivalry at the 8th annual Rebel/Bulldog Cook-Off! You can expect mouthwatering ribs, chicken, veggies, desserts, and more, as well as shopping and dining just off Downtown Pontotoc.
Mamma Mia!
When: August 22nd – 24th
Where: Tupelo Community Theatre
What: If you’re a fan of music and theatre, the Tupelo Community Theatre’s production of Mamma Mia! is a can’t-miss. The Tony award-nominated musical only runs for a few days, and tickets go on sale August 5th.
MiSSiHiPPi Music and Arts Festival
When: August 24th, 12pm – 1:30am
Where: Foxfire Ranch, Waterford, MS
What: Live music from local musicians, beautiful artwork, and delicious food—the MiSSiHiPPi Festival is all about celebrating local artists and encouraging creativity in the community. Plus, all fund go towards music education in Mississippi public schools!
