Trim your tree, deck the halls, and string up your twinkling lights — the holiday season is here, and with it comes tons of fun activities and performances in the Tupelo area.
Are you looking for ways to celebrate the festivities with the rest of the community? Check out a few of these highlights, and add them to your holiday list!
Ice Skating
Lace up your skates and hit the rink! The BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo is now open, so channel your inner figure skater and practice your best Lutz. Whether you’re a seasoned professional on ice or can’t balance for more than a few seconds, ice skating is a great way to get active during the winter season.
The fee for skating is $12 and includes the cost of skate rental. Make sure you get to the BancorpSouth Arena soon to take advantage of this seasonal activity!
Annual Toy Exhibit
Is there anything more quintessentially Christmas than toys? Celebrate local history and the holiday season with a visit to the Annual Toy Exhibit at the Oren Dunn City Museum.
Fun fact: Tupelo used to be the site of the Rich Toy factory before resources were relocated during World War II. The Annual Toy Exhibit celebrates Tupelo’s toy-filled past and is a great way to kick off your holiday celebrations!
Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment
Disney on Ice brings together all of your favorite characters — from Ariel to Buzz Lightyear to Lightning McQueen — as they perform their stories on ice. From a kingdom under the sea to the icy castles of Arendelle, watch your favorite moments play out under the lights of the rink.
Maybe you can even take a little inspiration from your favorite characters, and apply it to your own ice skating skills!
The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe
One of the best parts of the holiday season is revisiting childhood stories as they come to life on stage. This year, the Tupelo Community Theatre has chosen C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as their holiday production.
The play will cover the journey of Peter, Susan, Lucy, and Edmund as they travel through a magical wardrobe into the land of Narnia. A story that hits on many important holiday themes, this production is great for theater patrons of all ages.
