The 43.6 mile-long Tanglefoot Trail starts its winding journey in New Albany and stretches through the length of Union County and beyond. Taking hikers through meadows, forests, and riversides, the Tanglefoot Trail is an equally scenic and historic adventure.

Much of Union County — including Myrtle, New Albany, and Ingomar — is tucked right on the edge of the Holly Springs National Forest. The forest is filled with miles of luscious trails, thousands of acres of vegetation, and sparkling lakes.

The site of several Civil War sites, the Union County Heritage Museum is dedicated to educating residents about and preserving artifacts from hundreds of years ago. Dated at nearly 2,200 years old, the man-made Ingomar Mounds are a testament to the ingenuity of the ancestors of Union County. Smithsonian archeologists have even excavated the ruins! Some of the unearthed artifacts are on display in both the Smithsonian and the Union County Heritage Museum.
