According to the New Albany Sustainability Advisory committee, the town’s brand-new dog park will hopefully open by October 1st, 2020. The green space, which will be next to the tennis courts at BNA Bank Park, has garnered quite a bit of excitement from residents and their furry friends. Here’s everything you need to know before the grand opening this fall!
Plenty of fun for pups and people
You and your dog will love this fenced-in acre of green space, which is designed for off-leash play and exercise. Amenities include a concrete path, benches, and a water station where canines can cool off and grab a drink.
For an added level of convenience, visitors can also take advantage of BNA Bank Park’s nearby restrooms and parking. And when you’re ready to embark on another adventure, you can head into Downtown New Albany with your dog in tow to check out the area’s top stores and restaurants.
More tourism for New Albany
In addition to serving the area’s pup population, New Albany’s dog park is expected to draw even more visitors into town, especially due to its proximity to Bankhead Street and the Tanglefoot Trail. Local officials view the project as an investment in the town’s curb appeal and growing population.
In total, the project should cost around $27,000, with most of the money coming from the city’s 2% tourism tax and local donations. Public enthusiasm for the park is at an all-time high, and residents have been requesting a dog park for years.
